Join Our Leadership Team

This role has given me the chance to work closely with expert peers from across academia, industry, and startups, building a supportive network that benefits both the community and my own research.

Edith-Clare Hall

Team Lead

Together, we have:

  • Expanded existing and built new networks, creating a space for collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Secured funding and delivered projects, including over £6,000 in direct funding for Women in Robotics UK and contributing to £40,000 (including in-kind support) through a Royal Academy of Engineering grant. These projects have supported outreach, events, and new initiatives that reach beyond traditional research spaces.
  • Forged partnerships with organisations, such as the National Robotarium, RS Components, Oxford Robotics Institute, and multiple universities, strengthening connections between researchers, industry leaders, and students.
  • Organised events on international stages, including ICRA 2023 and the UK Manipulation Workshop 2024, creating platforms for members to present their work, meet potential collaborators, and engage with the wider robotics community.

The leadership structure is shared and collaborative, which keeps the work flexible and manageable alongside research commitments. I have built skills I wouldn’t have gained through my PhD alone, such as negotiating partnerships, coordinating public events, and working across different robotics sectors.
Our efforts have connected members to mentors, training, and new collaborators. Personally, this role has expanded my network and strengthened my confidence as both a researcher and a leader. I was recognised with the Rising Star award from Robotics and Automation Magazine, but the relationships I’ve built within the leadership team remain the most valuable part of this experience.
